Omineca Lodge, our Home Lake and Area

Aerial view of the Lodge
Our Island Retreat
Omineca Lodge is the base for all our Adventures. The Lodge is built on an Island on our 7 km long Home Lake. We have the lake all to ourselves, there are no other homes or Lodges with 50 miles. Omineca Lodge is the Main Lodge and 4 Guest Cabins. Each Guest Cabin has comfortable sheeted beds, a woodstove, electric lights and hot shower. True Rustic Comfort.
With pre-arrangement 4 to 6 people can have the Lodge to themselves. For larger Groups we can accommodate up to 15 people.

A Nature trail leads on a circuit around the island. Guests taking this walk will always be accompanied by Larry, who will make sure they get back safely (and chase a few squirrels on the way).

Music and Nature
We enjoy the peace and quiet of the nature that surrounds us but sometimes while having a morning coffee on the Sundeck we listen to Vivaldi or Handel and watch the Hummingbirds. And after a busy day we just might let Steve Earle, George Jones or Randy Newman entertain us over a beer, as we ponder the meaning of life.

Our Home and Area
Three streams flow from the snowy peaks of Grizzly Mountain (5800ft) into our watershed. The outlet stream of our Home Lake is a Class-A Trout spawning stream. Where Eagles and Osprey come to hunt. We can always find a quiet corner in sheltered Islands and Bays of the lake to Canoe and to Fish. And our Home Lake is connected to a watershed of other streams and lakes waiting to be explored.

Surrounding the Lodge and our Home Lake watershed are pristine Old-Growth Forests. Through these ancient Forests a hiking trail leads up to the Alpine Meadows of Grizzly Mountain.Close to our Home Lake are other natural points of interest including Day Trip Trophy Lakes.
A day trip away from the Lodge is the Fort St. James Museum. For a glimpse into the history of Omineca Country a visit to this restored Hudson's Bay Company Fort is highly recommended.

Herb and Frank guide you on a wide variety of Day Trips in the Home Lake and Area or Adventures deep into the Omineca Country.
